Unclear on the concept apparently

We went out to dinner last night.  Sassy ordered macaroni & cheese.  I almost fell out of my car in surprise.  Not.  The child is going to die from an over dose of chicken nuggets and mac & cheese.

So her dinner arrives…..and she won’t eat it.

“It doesn’t look good,” she says.

“What do you mean, it doesn’t look good.  It looks yummy.  It looks exactly like every mac & cheese in the world,” I tell her.

“I didn’t know there’d be cheese on it,” she tells me with absolutely no sense of irony what so ever.

“What?  It’s right there in the title, Sassy.  Mac & CHEESE.”

“Yeah, well, I thought it would be plain.”

Deep aggravated sigh.

One Response to Unclear on the concept apparently

  • Judie McEwen says:

I feel your pain! Well, a little bit–our granddaughter, Grace, is the pickiest eater I have ever known. She is afraid of food, and has been since she went off the breast to solids. Her mother has always had to cook two meals, one for her and one for the rest of them. When she was much younger, I refused to pamper her and made her eat whatever I fixed for dinner when we were taking care of her. It was not fun. Eventually I gave up, and I now cook two meals when she comes over, and she is in HIGH SCHOOL. It just makes life easier. Besides, she will grow up and go away to college and then it will become NOT our problem. One thing she DOES like a lot is grilled artichokes. Go figure!

The easiest way I found to get her to eat was to take them to Hometown Buffet and turn them loose. We closed our eyes while they were eating. They never went home hungry.
